We have decided to go north to Hwy 16 as that is considered Moose Alley. We really would love to see a Moose.
In Gorham the McDonald's has two seating areas with wood stoves. It is really cool and says a lot for the weather in this area in the winter.
Its amusing to see signs like Yankee Gardens and along the river we are following there are islands every 150 feet. We took a picture of a loon but only moose tracks. In Errol we stopped at L L Cote Company Store an outdoor store that has a subway. So we got subway to go.
We entered Maine at Lake Umbagog at Grafton Notch State Park. We took at walk at Moose Cave but only saw signs of a bear so we didn't linger in the area.
As in Vermont, New Hampshire and now Maine there are lots of vegetables stands. Corn, squash, green pepper and tomatoes etc. The state of Maine has trading posts instead of country stores. We stopped in Rumford and got a t-shirt for $5.00 and took pictures of the water converging.
In Farmington leaves are falling but without color. There are a lot more seafood signs and even on for Blueberry Pie. Judy Q. asked me if we were eating fish and pie. It must be the thing in Maine.
We found a Koa for the night and got a site away from the highway with trails leading from the camp.
Al went into the woods around dusk to see if he could find a moose. I don't feel well tonight. I'm tired and plan to go for a shower, watch tv and go to bed early.
