On August 10, 2011 we left Charlotte for parts unknown. Our first night was at a KOA in Stuart's Draft, Virginia. We were along a creek and it was beautiful. We were able to sleep with the windows open. I regret that we lost the pictures of this nice event.

We woke to a beautiful day and travelled north to Strasburg, a quaint little town with lots of antiques.
It is in the mountains of Virginia so there were mountain ranges on both sides of the road.
Further north we visited Winchester, Virginia. We had a reuben for lunch and a diet coke $30.30 just a little expensive! There is a pedestrian mall that is an outdoor mall. We walked the mail and visited some of the stores. Winchester was the birth place of Patsy Cline and she is also buried here.
George Washington lived in Winchester at the age of 16.
The billboard along the side of the road - Liberty once lost, is lost forever - John Adams
All pictures were lost

Gettysburg National Park. We stayed at a KOA in Gettysburg. We visited the National Cemetery. The confederate lost 28,000, North Carolina lost more than any other state. We were in Gettysburg for two days and were so glad we decided to visit the park.

Well you have all heard the GPS stories and so my tale will be nothing new. We put in Choc. Town
Hershey, Pa. and ended up at a corn field. So much for Hershey Chocolates.
We finally found Hershey and went in and made Sarah and Jessica candy bars. We got to pick what we wanted in each of them and took pictures of the process (lost these pics too). We plan to give the candy bars to the girls when we get home. We ate Beef Stew for lunch in the little restaurant at Hershey. It was really good. We even got to make the wrapper design. Its really too bad we lost the pictures as Al and I had to put on aprons and hair nets. I took a great picture of Al with his hair net. I can still see his image in my mind.
We stayed in the night in Afton, New York and had dinner at Vincents. We ordered Ziti that came with a salad and rolls to go. We each had a glass of wine while we waited for the food to be prepared. This town would remind you of Waxhaw. The houses are old and everyone knows everyone.
One of the things we have noticed since coming north is there are no bug noises out at night. We kinda miss the southern bug noises.
