We left early this morning and are now in Hanover, NH, Dartmouth College is here and the whole town is
up and about. All the stores are open even the Liquor stores and its Sunday morning!! The appalachian trails goes through here. I got a gift from the campus store. It is a beautiful school and town. The town 1761estblished. The college began in 1769.
In New Hampshire we now have country store. The barns are different here they now have roosters on top and what looks like a bell tower on the top. There are not as many dairy farms as in Vermont. There are lots of flower and Christmas tree farms. The people are getting ready for winter as there are lots of wood stacks for the fireplace this winter.
We stopped for carrots, red potatoes, squash, onion, green pepper perhaps a stew for supper. In Hannifords I purchased a brown gravy mix to complete our stew for this evening. It has begun raining as we pproach the camp. Tonight the camp is on 152 acres and the house and barn are 240 years old. The man comes from New Jersey with his wife .
The owner also told us that there are moose on this property and that he has seen them. He says they are big and dumb.
He gave us a choice of sites and we chose one next to a stream. Not much water in it lots of pebbles.
I made the stew and it was wonderful. I left out the squash and the green pepper. We had enough for left overs.
It is very scary here tonight as they are calling for high winds from the hurricane and lots of rain. We re more secluded than we like as well.

We didn't rest well last night due to the rain and wind. This morning the creek has become a full river and is close to its banks. The sun is out and it is 69 with light wind. Beautiful morning. We ate bagels, cleaned up
and went out and took pictures of the stream and the covered bridge on the property. 1883.
It is much cooler this morning and we both have put on warmer clothes.
We are headed to the White mountains. We make camp at Twin Mtn Koa. We're having old fashion hot dogs tonight.

Mount Washington
We went directly to Mount Washington to ride the cog to the summit. We arrived at 10:15 and didn't go up until 11:30 due to the crowds. The cog goes 7 miles and hour and another cog is a short distance in front of us. As you go up it is very steep and the trees appear to be leaning. As we rise the view is more beautiful!
We come to a bridge and you can see the other cog going over it. When we get to the top we have an hour on the summit. The summit is in the clouds and it is 35 with a wind child of 22. COLD! A lady took our picture at the top 6288 ft. , 200 ft less than Mt. Mitchell but much more desolate. It was like landing on the moon because of the clouds. We took pictures of the old base camp and watch as hikers used the appalacian trail. We were really ready for the cog to come and take us down due to the weather and you couldn't see anything.
There is a store where I found a pocketbook just like the one I use now. I am always getting compliments on it so it will be nice to have another one.
We didn't get back to the van until 2:10. We drove by the Mt.Washington Inn and took pics of it and the
mountain behind it.
Our next stop was the Wiley family house. There is a sweet story that goes with the park about the family
disappearing after a rock slid. They found all but three of the daughters dead. It is a beautiful area .
We found a place to get lobster and clams on our way to camp and purchased a 3 lb one and took it to the camp.
