Our Six Week Road trip continued

August 14, 2011

We had breakfast early and set the GPS for Brant Lake, NY with no toll roads.  There were rolling hills much like North Carolina with lots of red barns.  It is miles between exits with no signs except the road signs giving speed.  The road is terrible.  We went by Cooperstown where the National Baseball Hall of Fame is located.  We arrived in the Adirondack Mountains around 1:00 pm and went through Lake George and on up to Brant Lake.  Al's parents used to take him to Brant Lake when he was a little boy.
He remembered the fountain in the middle of town and thought he knew where the cabin was that they stayed in while visiting.    It is a beautiful area and the lake is quite large.  (lost all these pics also)

We woke up to rain and cold.  We went to the Luck-E-Star Cafe for breakfast.  We had brunch without sweet tea.  No sweet tea in this area!

We had dinner at a restaurant on Lake George.  There was a beautiful rainbow and we settled in for
two - one pound lobsters, salad, bread and potato.  I took several pictures to share especially with friends but again they were lost.

We are now in at Lake Bomoseen Campground , Bomoseen, Vermont. The camp is  on a river and with all the rain it looks like a flood.  This morning we had to pay for our showers!  Twenty five cents for 5 minutes.  I put in a $1.00 but found that I take a shower pretty quickly as there was still time on it when I got out.  First time I every paid to get clean!

Gas is $3.93 a gallon and Al says they can charge what they want because there are so few stations. In this area the towns are called villages.  We found a fort Fort Anne built in 1786 the country was only ten years old.

We went into Rutland to have dinner and ate at a place called Sabby's and Italian Bistro.  We each got pasta and the local beer.  One of the patrons of the bar suggested that we go to Middleburg as they still have an A&W up there.  Sabby's was like Cheers everyone friendly and helpful.

We visited the Original Vermont Store in Poultney, Vermont today.  It was wonderful and  full of all different kinds of fudge (dream sickle, root beer, watermelon and in the fall pumpkin)  I shipped a bunch of different things home that morning as we don't have alot of room in the camper.

Loved this picture~
