After leaving Poultney we went into Wells, Vt. here are two nice lakes and lots of places to buy fresh vegetables. The vegetable stands are along the road and you buy on the honor system. Can you imagine doing that in our area? There are lots of dairy farms as Vermont is known for its cheese and ice cream.
We ended up in the town of Dorset. It is a very nice place, like Myers Park is to Charlotte We went into Dorset Store built in 1816 and purchased a cup of beef stew to die for. The people in the store and around were not friendly!
We finally made it to Manchester in Southern Vermont. Vermont Country Store has a huge warehouse operation and all goods are shipped from this location. Al says this is a town we could live in and is rated one of the top 100 towns in America to live. We ate wood fired pizza and had a root beer to drink. Root Beer is real popular up here. We stopped to speak to a lady who had a hot dog stand. I asked her if she had chili and she said yes. She called it her southern dog. She said that the NY people moving into SCCL maybe nice but there are nasty ones too and not to let them run over us. She was fun!
haha. that's funny that she said that about NY people. Rootbeer and a southern dog sounds AMAZING :)
